Why You “Fall Off” Every Time: A Message for Women Who’ve Tried It All

If you’ve ever started a new routine; meal prepping, walking after work, cutting back on sugar, and then watched it all fall apart the moment life got stressful, you’re not alone.


I’ve seen this pattern play out over and over again in my 20+ years as a weight loss and wellness coach. A woman starts strong. She’s motivated, focused, hopeful. And then life does what life does; work gets busy, the kids get sick, the weekends derail her rhythm. Before she knows it, she’s completely off track and blaming herself for “falling off” again.


Here’s what I want to say to every woman who’s been in that place: the problem isn’t you. And it’s not your motivation or willpower. What’s really happening is something much deeper and most people never talk about it.


What I’ve come to learn is that when a woman keeps falling off her plan, it’s not because the plan is bad. It’s because the plan wasn’t built for who she is right now. 


Most women try to lose weight by forcing new habits onto an old identity; still thinking, speaking, and showing up as the version of themselves who struggles to prioritize themselves, feels guilty asking for support, or deep down doesn’t believe she can actually stick with it long-term.


That disconnect is what I call identity misalignment. And when your habits and your identity don’t match, progress never lasts. You don’t lose momentum because you’re weak; you lose it because you’re still living from the mindset of someone who’s used to “starting over.”


That’s exactly why I created something new called Coach G’s Weight Loss Chronicles.


It’s a series inspired by the honest things women tell me during consultations. Each episode highlights a different pattern that keeps women stuck; especially the ones who feel like they’ve “tried everything.” No judgment. No lectures. Just real talk and truth, told with empathy and a little humour.


I created this series for the woman who’s tried over and over again, who feels like nothing works, and who’s starting to think maybe she’s the problem. She’s not. She just hasn’t been given the right starting point.

“I was doing okay… then life happened. And I just fell off.”
